James (Jim) Robert Cameron passed away suddenly but very peacefully on Thursday July 18 in his 84th year. Jim was born in Glasgow in 1931, making Canada his home in 1954. James began his long and distinguished career in Biomedical engineering at Toronto Western Hospital where he designed the first coronary unit and later after moving to Sunnybrook Health Science Center contributed to opening Canada’s first pacemaker clinic. Jim was a pioneer as one of the first Biomedical Engineers in the country and designed, assisted and participated in many cardiovascular ‘firsts’. He was a sought after consultant, teacher, lecturer and author of numerous international publications. James had a larger than life personality, never shied from making his opinion known, loved to help others find solutions and was a person many relied on.

James will be sadly missed by his daughters, Carol (Paul) and Lynda (Mike), his grandchildren Kendall (Simon), Logan, Owen, Scott (Teri), Kristen, Christopher (Gihie), Nathan and family in Scotland. His wife of 57 years, Nancy, passed away only months ago and James missed her dearly. A private cremation has taken place. Together with his wife Nancy, Jim will make his last trip home to Scotland, accompanied by his daughters in August.

A Celebration of James Life will be held at MOUNT LAWN RECEPTION CENTRE, 21 Garrard Road, Whitby (North of Hwy 2) 905-443-3376 on Saturday July 26, 2014 at 10 am.
