Former deputy chief of the Scarborough Fire Department (1983-1988) and current honourary fire chief of the Centennial Retirement Residence
Passed away peacefully with family by his side after a brief illness at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Saturday, November 10th, at the age of 82. Predeceased by his wives Joan (1983) and Maureen (2008). Loving father of Chris (Jill Edwards), Karen, Linda (Tom Jones) Janice (Peter Gunn), Kevin (Zoe), Kathleen (Charles Lawrie), Nadine (Darryl Siriram), Stephen (Laura) and step-daughter Debbie (Greg West), including the late Wayne. Father-in law to Sue Tomei. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Stephanie, Chris Jr., Andrea, Lisa, Chloe, Joanna, Nikki, Michael, Lindsay, Nicholas, Sarah, Andrew, Samantha, Jessica, Matthew, Zachary, Julia and step-grandchildren Tamara, Tyson as well as his great-granddaughter Allie. Brother to Alice, Nancy, Margaret, Samuel, Patricia, and the late Robert. Tom is a member of the Bowlers' Hall of Fame. He was an avid angler, wood worker, quilter, bowler and volunteer Dragon Boat transportation captain for the Lindsay Dragonflies team. He will be dearly missed by all. Friends may call at MOUNT LAWN RECEPTION CENTRE, 21 Garrard Road (North of Dundas), 905-443-3376 on Tuesday November 13th from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday November 14th at 11am. Cremation. Special thanks to the C-wing 7th floor doctors and staff of Lakeridge Health Oshawa for their professionalism and kindess during his brief stay and to the staff at Centennial Retirement Residence for the past two years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson Society of Canada or the charity of your choice.
