Beloved husband, soul mate, and high school sweetheart of Marilyn for almost 57 years. Devoted father of Kim (Dave), and Dean (Andrea). Cherished Poppa of Hayley, Tanner, Daxton, and Elyse. Predeceased by parents Dean and Violet. Don was heavily involved in his community, and was a Mason, Rotarian, past Library Board member, past United Way Board member, and was a charter member of Probus. He was inducted into the Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the Connaught Park Softball Team. Over the years he enjoyed fishing, golf, curling, cards and travel. He quickly became a Principal, and then spent the last 13 years of his career as a Superintendent. He was recognized as the “Educator of the Year” in 1990.

After retirement, he didn’t stay still! He enjoyed 24 winters in Florida, where he had an extremely active social life and enjoyed life in the sun. Don and Marilyn took trips with great friends in the spring and fall, while summers were spent with his family at his favourite place, the cottage.

The family wishes to thank their many friends for the love and support that was shared over the past two years. Special thanks to Sue Dalton from CCAC for her compassionate care. Don was a true gentleman who will be fondly remembered as a wonderful husband, father and poppa, a great friend and a fantastic hugger!

A celebration of his life will take place on Friday February 26, 2016 at Kingsview United Church 505 Adelaide Ave. E. Oshawa, with visitation from 2 - 4 p.m. and a service to commence at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Shriners Children's Hospital of Canada or the Humane Society.
