Suddenly in his sleep in his 69th year on Wednesday, August 6, 2014. Beloved husband of Patricia, father to April and Deric and grandfather to Deryn, Hazen and Macy. Cherished brother of Charlotte Steeves. Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Georgia Smith and brothers Hazen and William. An avid golfer, Eric was a General Motors employee and long time coordinator of the CAW Truck/Car Oldtimers Hockey League well after his retirement in the year 2000. Eric was well liked and respected by every person whose life he touched. Friends and relatives may call at the MOUNT LAWN RECEPTION CENTRE, 21 Garrard Rd., Whitby (N of Hwy 2), 905-443-3376, on Saturday, August 9, 2014 from 5-9 p.m. In accordance with Eric 's wishes there will be no funeral service. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
